As a member of the Official Statistical Service (HSSz), the Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI) collects data that support the comprehensive analysis of economic and social processes. Statistical data collection and processing are carried out within the framework of the National Statistical Data Collection Program (OSAP).
Data sent and processed through the electronic data collection system called the Agricultural Statistical Information System (ASIR) come from numerous areas, including the food industry, agriculture, related activities, and input material trade.
Nearly 10,000 data providers supply the data necessary for the preparation of accurate and reliable statistical reports and publications.
Official statistical activities are regulated by Act No. CLV of 2016, which entered into force on January 1, 2017, and by Government Decree No. 184/2017 (VII. 5.) issued for its implementation.
Official statistical activity is a public task regulated by law that supports fact-based decision-making and serves as a source of official information and general societal awareness through the publication of statistical data.
The activity aims to provide a realistic and objective picture of the state and changes in society, the economy, and the environment through high-quality statistical information for public opinion, economic organizations – including financial markets –, government bodies, local municipalities, civil organizations, scientific researchers, media representatives, European Union institutions, and other international organizations.
In order for users to be informed about the entirety of official statistics, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) has created the website of the Official Statistical Service, which presents all organizations responsible for producing official statistics – alongside the KSH.
