Short bio

Szabolcs Biró PhD (Hungary) has a doctoral degree in Management and Business Administration Sciences and more than 20 years of experience in the field of agriculture and rural development.

Szabolcs Biró is advisor of the Directorate of Agricultural Economics at the Institute of Agricultural Economics. He participates as a Senior Research Fellow in several EU H2020 projects (LIAISON, SHERPA), and as an advisor and evaluator of modernisation effects of rural development programmes. Lead author and main editor with responsibility for a team of 40 researchers in large international research and monitoring and evaluation projects on competitiveness of agriculture. Other main research fields are agricultural policy, innovation, and land policy in agriculture. Member of the Editorial Board of the Books and Studies in Agricultural Economics Series. Lecturer at the Agricultural University of Debrecen. He has motivation and experience for leading a team of experts and working with DG AGRI and the EU Member State stakeholder groups. A native Hungarian speaker with a very good command of English (C2).
