Extensive experience in the development of new crops for agriculture including working with farmers for almost 20 years in Eastern and Western Europe, North and South America and New Zealand, as well as identifying potential new plant sources of pharmaceuticals in India and Fiji. Workpackage leader in the EU H2020 project LIAISON and a founder member of the SCAR Strategic Working Group on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems. International Expert in agricultural development projects in several countries in Eastern Europe, the Western Balkans and the Caucasus, and an external evaluator and monitor of projects on behalf of several funding agencies. He has published many research papers on crop science and agricultural innovation in impact factor journals and is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Web of Science journal Studies in Agricultural Economics.
